Worcestershire logistics firm Marshall’s Transport made tracks to the legendary Silverstone race circuit to join major celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the UK’s Transport Association (TA).
The TA chose the home of British Grand Prix to host a gala dinner attended by 430 members of the nationwide hauliers’ network, plus a display of more than 130 modern and classic trucks.
Marshall’s, a family firm that’s proudly celebrating its own 80th anniversary milestone this year, entered two of its own trucks in the showpiece display.
Brian Simpson, operations director at Marshall’s Transport, said: “We’re a family-run firm and are very proud to be part of the Transport Association because it’s a real family oriented organisation, you can bring your kids to the events and really feel part of something.”
“The majority of people there you could call for help and they would help you out. We’ve certainly made a lot of friends along the way.”
The purpose of the TA, which is made up of approximately 60 hauliers that are all family-owned, is to be a nationwide, self-help group offering practical benefits and opportunities to its members.
Chairman Peter Greenhalgh, managing director of Treasure Transport, said: “The TA is made up of the most respected transport businesses owned by the most incredible characters and marking 70 years is a true testament to the strength of our members.”
The celebration was a huge success. The impressive line-up of trucks included 50 classic trucks, 61 modern vehicles and 21 trucks displayed by sponsors, while an auction and raffle raised almost £75,000 for Air Ambulance UK.
